Monday

Got to the track at a most reasonable time (about 10.00). Did a warm-up lap (nice), then a reasonably quick lap with Danish biker Jon in the passenger seat and all my luggage in the boot and the rear seats. Søren was driving leisurely behind me. At Miss-Hit-Miss we were overtaken by two Swedish Porsches. We overtook Sir B. in the Silver Barge at Mutkurve. Sir B. was being very cooperative by moving over and indicating. In Galgenkopf we encountered Mark and Claire in their Boxter, going quite a bit faster than on their first strip.

The final lap of the weekend was with Tom. The first part wasn't too fast, the middle part relaxed and a bit faster. At Steilstrecken kurve we caught up to Laurens. Who didn't indicate. As a result we stayed behind him until Schwalbenschwanz. By the time we got to Pflanzgarten I was thinking that either he had fallen asleep behind the wheel (I'm reasonably sure he can drive round the Ring blindfolded by now), had recognised me and had decided to piss me off a little (which I thought a bit unlike Laurens), or that his indicators were broken. When we overtook him (and Esther) Tom made a semi-rude gesture (thanks Tom). We had a conversation about this, and Laurens thought that as I knew that he knew me, I should just overtake him. My reasoning was, if you don't indicate, I cannot know that you've seen me, and therefore I will not overtake you unless *I* think it perfectly safe.

After some goodbyes I left, only to encounter Jeppe and Søren on the road leading to the Ring, so I turned back to say goodbye to them too. Of course they tried to convince me to do just one more lap, and even though they almost succeeded I kept my foot down (so to speak) and started the journey home. 3.5 hours later the 964 was back in the garage (good thing, that way nobody notices how filthy it is) with the oil topped up, ready for the next Ring trip.

Back home I found that Chris (from 8200rpm) had taken a very nice picture of me in action: thanks!

Me :-)
