Minolta has discontinued production of all of the xi series bar the 9xi model. They are also said to be considering returning to the X series of MF SLRs "..the X series will carry on for the next 3 to 4 years with at least 2 SLRs available" (Damian Dinning, Minolta UK). Plans also afoot to launch a new MD lens at Photokina - a cheaper version of an existing lens, plus a new MF X- series SLR early '97 accompanied by 2 completely new MD lenses.
