Metering Index

Another change from the 700si is the position of the Metering Index. In P, A and S modes it displays the (normal) exposure compensation setting. In M mode, it shows the difference between the metered mode and the value you have set. With the AEL button pressed, it shows the difference between the locked value and the value of the spot at the centre of the frame where you are currently pointing.

Custom Functions

Similar to many of Canon's and Nikons recent high-end SLR bodies, a number of the 800si's functions can be customised by the user, beyond that which can be set using the 3 User Memories. These are as follows:
